Tensor Rubber
The name used to describe a table tennis rubber that has the topsheet stretched and placed under tension before it is glued to the sponge. This tension causes the rubber to curl inwards with the sponge on the outside, doming the rubber sheet.
In order to attach the rubber to the blade, the domed rubber must be made flat again. In order to do this, the top sheet is placed under tension again, which increases the catapult effect that can be obtained from the rubber.
