Counterhit

A stroke that is played with medium to fast speed, and light to medium topspin. It is used to return an opponent's topspin stroke whilst still maintaining good control of the ball.

The counterhit is played from fairly close to the table (typically less than 3-4 feet), and is usually used to make a less risky return than returning with a reloop.

A counterhitting rally occurs when both players are using counterhits to position themselves for a strong attack.
