3-Step Footwork
A side-to-side movement used to cover long distances, usually to step out wide on the player's backhand side to hit a forehand, or to cover shots hit deep to the forehand comer angled off the wide forehand sideline.
This style of footwork is very similar to the two-step except an additional small step is made before both feet are shifted. To move left, the player takes a small step to the left with their left foot (6 to 8 inches), shifts their weight to their left leg, and then performs a two-step movement.
